An apology

Huhuhuhu...!

We would like to apologize for the current state of our wedding venue. It was damage due to typhoon Reming. Once it was populated with so many coconut and banana trees, many have fallen and now the place looks so bare. The beach front was also not spared. A canal-like formation developed on the right side of the beach front due to the rampaging waters from the mountains. They had to put sacks of sand to prevent any more damage to the shorelines.

They are fixing what they can fix until our wedding day but it was so frustrating that they didn't inform us about the extent of the damage. If we didn't make a final visit to make preparations we wouldn't even know about it. It so frustrating! I, Raquel and our families and friends have exerted so much effort for the last 6 months and just to end up like this. Arrgggg!!

But many of our brothers have suffered and lost so much more due to this typhoon. So we are still thankful inspite of this.

See you soon!

Directions to Laiya Resthouse

Directions to Laiya Resthouse

1. Head for Lipa City on the Southern Luzon Express way, Exit 50A which leads to Sto Tomas Batangas. (It is 39 kilometers from Magallanes to the end of the South Super Highway).

2. You will pass by Carmel Ray Industrial Park, Yazaki-Torres, and Yakult; after the First Philippine Industrial Park is the entrance of the Star Toll Way (right across the entrance is the Light and Industry Park III)(6.5km). Turn right to Star Toll Way, this highway will take you to Lipa(20km).

3. You will take Tambo exit; when you come out of Star Toll Highway, turn right and head for Lipa City. On this road you will pass La Salle Lipa on the left and Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. Then you will come up with a fork at the very apex of the fork. Keep right and enter Lipa City proper. Expect heavy traffic in this area. (3km)

4. You will pass a triangle (keep left). This road is headed towards the church. After the triangle, you will see the LBC office and a Jollibee on the left and a small Mercury drug store on the right. Turn right on this corner (Torres Street). You are now heading towards Rosario town.

5. You will come upon a fork. Keep right if you prefer using the Rosario road. Turn left if you prefer using the Padre Garcia road.

6. 6.a. If you took the Rosario road, you will reach Rosario town proper. You will know this since you will come upon an intersection. On the left, you will see a mini mart. Across is an arch (Mabuhay). Turn left on this intersection. You will see an Andok’s Lechon Manok stand on your right and a big church approximately 100 meters on your left.

6.b. If you are taking Padre Garcia road, make a left turn when you see a road sign. (Padre Garcia - left arrow, Rosario - right arrow, San Juan – straight arrow). This sign is after Iglesia ni Cristo and Recto Elementary School. After turning left, you will immediately see the Market of Padre Garcia on your right. Turn right immediately after the market. The road you’re in will now merge with the road of Rosario.

7. You will see a big arch that says “Shell Batangas Racing Circuit” (DO NOT ENTER). Stay on the main road (sharp left but not a turn - might be a dangerous curve if you are driving fast).

8. As you enter San Juan town, you will pass by a couple of clay pot stands/factory. You will pass by a Petron Gas Station and Dunkin Donuts on your right. Across the Police station is a covered basketball court/gym. Turn right on the corner immediately after the Police station.

9. There are 14 bridges on this stretch. You will pass a number of resorts like Costa de Madeira,Coco Grove, and Kabayan. Laiya Resthouse is right after Kabayan Resort.

Ang pamamanhikan, bow!

Some pictures taken a couple of weeks back when we had our pamamanhikan. Our families had dinner at Congo Grill, Mother Ignacia. Food was overflowing unlike our conversations. It was expected because it was the first time our families met. But still it was good night.

Dilemma

Argggg! Our negotiations with VirginBeach failed. They were asking 235k for the reception and accomodation. That's too much!

The last few months, we've been scouting for new venues. We've tried Subic and other Batangas beaches but still haven't found that perfect place for us. Its either the beach is not too good or it's exclusive. Last we visited was Tagaytay. We found some fantastic gardens but I'm not sure if a garden wedding in Tagaytay is worth the travel for our guests since there are also a lot of gardens in Metro Manila.

On saturday, we will be checking out the different venues here in Manila but we haven't given up on our dream to have a beach wedding. Huhuhu....
